The Ant and the Grasshopper
Aesop's Fables · 1 min read
All through the warm summer months, a grasshopper spent his days singing and playing in the sun, mocking a nearby ant who worked tirelessly, day after day, gathering and storing grain for the winter ahead.
"Why waste such beautiful weather on labor?" the grasshopper called out. "Come sing with me instead!" The ant only replied that winter would come whether they were ready or not, and kept working.
When the cold finally arrived, the grasshopper found himself starving, with no food stored and no way to find any beneath the snow. Desperate, he came to the ant's door begging for a bite to eat. The ant, having worked all summer while the grasshopper played, shared what little she could spare — but reminded him gently that a season of preparation is worth far more than a season of song, once the hard times truly arrive.

Prepare during the good times, so the hard times don't catch you empty-handed.
