Snow White
World Fairy Tales · 1 min read
A vain queen, who asked her magic mirror daily who was the fairest in the land, flew into a jealous rage when it finally answered "Snow White" instead of her own name. She ordered a huntsman to take the young princess into the forest and kill her, but the huntsman, unable to harm such an innocent girl, let her flee instead and brought the queen an animal's heart as false proof.
Snow White wandered until she found a small cottage belonging to seven dwarfs, who took her in kindly in exchange for keeping their house. The queen, learning from her mirror that Snow White still lived, disguised herself three times to reach her — first as a peddler with a poisoned lace, then a poisoned comb, and finally a poisoned apple. The dwarfs saved her from the first two, but the apple's bite left her seemingly dead, and the grieving dwarfs placed her in a glass coffin in the forest.
A passing prince, struck by her beauty even in death, asked to take the coffin with him. As his servants carried it, a jolt dislodged the piece of poisoned apple from her throat, and Snow White woke, alive and well. She married the prince, and the wicked queen, invited unknowingly to the wedding, met a fitting end for her jealousy.
Moral of the story
Jealousy that seeks to destroy beauty in others only destroys the one who harbors it.
